Merete Aasheim is an Associate Professor at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, affiliated with the Research Group for Preventive and Health-Promoting Interventions. Her work focuses on evaluating and implementing universal preventive programs in kindergarten, schools, and after-school programs. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education from UiT.
Her research emphasizes mental health promotion, behavioral interventions, and social-emotional competence in children and youth. Key projects include evaluations of the Incredible Years Teacher Classroom Management (IY-TCM) program and the Be-Prox bullying intervention. She has collaborated on national studies assessing program efficacy in reducing problem behavior and enhancing classroom climates.
Aasheim’s publications span topics like athlete retention in elite sports, bullying prevention, and the impact of structured interventions on child development. She actively participates in policy discussions on early childhood education and preventive mental health strategies in Norwegian institutions.
