Clinical Professor Meredith Makeham holds appointments at Macquarie University and the University of Sydney. She serves as Chief Medical Adviser for the Australian Digital Health Agency, leading clinical governance and safety initiatives. Her expertise spans patient safety in primary care, digital health infrastructure, and My Health Record system oversight. She chairs committees on digital health and genomics and leads international collaborations like the Global Digital Health Partnership (GDHP).
Research focuses on primary care safety, incident reporting systems, and digital health technologies. Key contributions include the TAPS study on patient safety, WHO technical reports on primary care errors, and the GraceMed study on medication information discrepancies. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and co-led major research projects such as the Centre of Research Excellence in Digital Health (CREDiH).
Awards include Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the College Medal.
