Meredith Leigh is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida, specializing in Urban Design, Growth Management, and Food Planning. She holds a Ph.D. in Design, Construction, and Planning (2012), a Master of Landscape Architecture (2009), and a BA in History (2001), all from the University of Florida. Her professional experience spans landscape design, urban planning, and academia, with a focus on mitigating urban displacement through policy and regulations.
Teaching roles include instructing LAA 5331 (Site Design Methodology) at UF’s online Master of Urban Regional Planning program and developing Urban Design Theories at Florida Atlantic University (2018–2020). She currently works as a Land Use Planner at a West Palm Beach law firm.
Research interests include food deserts in urban areas, zoning code amendments, and policies addressing gentrification in historically marginalized neighborhoods. Her work bridges academic and practical urban planning challenges, emphasizing equitable growth strategies.
Publications span over a decade, with recent works exploring barriers for women in academic surgery, implicit bias in resident evaluations, and breast cancer treatment outcomes. Despite her urban planning expertise, her academic articles predominantly focus on medical and surgical topics, suggesting potential interdisciplinary collaborations or a possible data inconsistency.
