Meredith Jones

Professor Meredith Jones is an Honorary Professor at Brunel University, affiliated with the College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences and the Department of Arts and Humanities. As Director of the Institute for Communities and Society, her work bridges feminist theory, media studies, and cultural studies with a focus on embodiment, popular culture, and visuality. Her research explores topics like cosmetic surgery tourism, Kardashian cultural impact, and digital poverty in marginalized communities. Key works include Performing the Penis (2022), Beautyscapes (2019), and Skintight (2008). She has received the 2020 Foundation for Sociology of Health and Illness Prize for Beautyscapes.

Her research interests span feminist critiques of media, body politics, and global health. Ongoing projects include monographs on vulvas and genital transformations in media, as well as collaborations on innovative academic publishing models with Taylor & Francis Group. She founded the Trunk book series, exploring themes like hair and blood through art and essays.
