Mercy Denedo is Associate Professor in Accounting at Durham University Business School, researching accountability frameworks for social and environmental justice. Her interdisciplinary scholarship examines NGO operations, social housing policies, and sustainable development goals.
Denedo investigates how accounting practices can improve stakeholder engagement and organizational governance, particularly in conflict-affected and environmentally degraded regions. Current projects analyze stigma in social housing systems and water governance accountability in West Africa.
Her publications include contributions to the 'Handbook of Accounting in Society' and studies on grassroots activism in housing policy. Denedo advocates for critical accounting approaches that address systemic inequalities through policy-influencing research.
