Mengying Zhai is a Lecturer at the University of Idaho's College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences, specializing in Chinese language instruction. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa (2023), an M.A. from Beijing Foreign Studies University (2016), and a B.A. from the same institution (2013).
Her research centers on second language writing and pedagogy, emphasizing technology-enhanced teaching practices for Chinese language acquisition both inside and outside classrooms. Primary interests include collaborative writing, peer feedback systems, and computer-mediated language learning.
Her recent publications focus on technology-supported peer interactions in L2 Chinese writing, analyzing collaborative dynamics, feedback efficacy, and learner perceptions. Research consistently explores how digital tools reshape language education methodologies.
She teaches courses spanning elementary to advanced Chinese, including CHIN 101-202 and CHIN 310, along with cultural studies in FLEN 325.
