Her educational background demonstrates a strong foundation in economic theory and methodology:
- PhD in Economics, University of East Anglia, Dept. Economics (2013-2018)
- MSc in Economics, University of Essex, Dept. Economics (2011-2012)
- B.A. in International Trade, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (2007-2011)
Dr. Wang's research focuses on behavioural economics, with particular emphasis on boundedly rational consumers, social preferences, and behavioural game theory. Her work bridges theoretical economic models with experimental evidence to understand how people make decisions in real-world contexts. She investigates how consumers respond to time-limited offers, how self-control affects decision-making, and how perceptions of fairness influence acceptance of inequality. Her research has practical applications in consumer protection, marketing strategy, and economic policy design.
Her publication record shows a consistent trajectory in behavioural economics research, with recent work examining task preferences and engagement (2024), New Year's resolution behaviors (2023), and the relationship between equality of opportunity and outcome inequality (2020). These publications demonstrate her methodological expertise in experimental economics and her theoretical contributions to understanding human decision-making beyond traditional rational actor models.
At Cardiff Business School, Dr. Wang teaches BST759: Financial Theory and Corporate Policy at the postgraduate level and BS3623: Responsible Banking and Sustainable Economy for third-year undergraduates. Her teaching integrates contemporary research findings with core economic principles, particularly emphasizing the behavioral aspects of financial decision-making and sustainable economic practices. She maintains an active research program while contributing to the academic community through her teaching and scholarly work.
Based in Room R11b of the Aberconway Building at Cardiff University's Cathays campus, Dr. Wang continues to advance research in behavioural economics while mentoring the next generation of economists.
