معرفی
Meng Gu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Hong Kong. Previously, she held postdoctoral positions at the Carnegie Observatories and Princeton University's Department of Astrophysical Sciences, completing her PhD at Harvard University under Prof. Charlie Conroy. Her research focuses on galaxy formation and stellar population synthesis modeling, particularly exploring the stellar initial mass function (IMF), environmental impacts on galaxies, and massive galaxy growth mechanisms.
Education:
- PhD in Astrophysics, Harvard University (Advisor: Prof. Charlie Conroy)
- Graduate studies at UC Santa Cruz
Research Interests:
- Unraveling IMF variations in galaxies and their impact on mass measurements
- Environmental influences on galaxy evolution
- Galaxy assembly processes using observations from Magellan, VLT, SDSS-IV, and future facilities like JWST
Her articles investigate topics such as IMF in early-type galaxies, intracluster light dynamics, and coordinated assembly of brightest cluster galaxies. Current work emphasizes using next-generation instruments to study galactic spatial information and stellar populations.
