Ashley Chrimes

Ashley Chrimes is a Research Fellow at the European Space Agency (ESTEC) with a focus on explosive transients in high-mass stellar evolution and compact objects. Her work integrates theoretical population synthesis with observational data from host galaxies, transients, and galactic remnants.

• Key research areas: Gamma-ray bursts (collapsar and compact merger), fast blue optical transients, fast radio bursts, and binary stellar evolution.
• Ongoing collaborations: STARGATE (GRB follow-up with VLT), ENGRAVE (gravitational wave counterparts), BPASS (binary population synthesis), and Euclid (supernovae/transients working group).
• Missions involved: Hubble, Gaia, XMM-Newton, JWST, Euclid, INTEGRAL, and Einstein Probe.
• Additional roles: ESTEC coordinator for LEAPS (Leiden/ESA Astrophysics Program for Summer Students) and organizer of the ESTEC breakfast seminar series.
