معرفی
Felix Fuerst is an X-ray astronomer working as an XMM-Newton Scientist in the XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre (SOC) at the European Space Agency. His research primarily focuses on high-mass X-ray binaries (HMXBs) and ultra-luminous X-ray sources (ULXs), with special interest in systems hosting neutron stars.
His research interests include:
- X-ray astronomy of compact objects
- Spectral and timing properties of X-ray binaries
- Pulsation searches in neutron star systems
- Measuring magnetic fields through cyclotron resonant scattering features
- Stellar winds and their influence on X-ray variability
- Accretion processes in compact object systems
Fuerst actively participates in several research collaborations:
- XMAG (high-mass X-ray binaries and cyclotron lines)
- X-WIND (stellar winds)
- NuSTAR ULX group
- NuSTAR Binaries group
Before his current position as an XMM-Newton scientist, Fuerst served as a Research Fellow at ESAC in the INTEGRAL team. His work contributes significantly to our understanding of accreting compact objects across the electromagnetic spectrum.
