Dr. Meng-Chuan Lai is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry, the Institute of Medical Science, and the Child and Youth Mental Health Collaborative at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and Hospital for Sick Children. He serves as Co-Chair of the Advisory Council for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Clinical Care.

- Postdoctoral training in autism neuroscience at University of Cambridge
His research focuses on multi-level (biological, cognitive, behavioral, sociocultural, and health service) studies of neurodivergent individuals with autism or related neurodevelopmental conditions. He investigates how sex- and gender-related factors influence clinical presentation, diagnosis, neurobiology, and mental health outcomes, particularly in female and gender-diverse populations. Additional research interests include psychiatric nosology, social cognition, and cross-disciplinary integration.
