Melody McCray-Miller is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Political Science Department at Wichita State University. A prominent community leader, she served as a State Representative for the 89th House District (2005–2013) and as the first African American woman on the Sedgwick County Commissioners Board. Her advocacy focuses on prevention, early childhood education, and juvenile justice reform.
As Principal Owner and Co-Founder of Miller’s Inc., she oversees a premium food product business and consulting firm, expanding market reach into Canada. She consults on health disparities and business development, emphasizing community engagement in public policy. Her expertise spans state and local governance, with a commitment to fostering small business growth to enhance community well-being.
Melody is a Kansas Health Foundation Fellow and Kansas Leadership Center alumna, leveraging these roles to advance equitable policies and community-driven initiatives.
