Melissa White is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of New Brunswick. Her work focuses on adult education theory, community development, and the political economy of education. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (2004), an M.A. from the same institution (1996), and a B.O.A. from Mount Saint Vincent University (1990).
Her research explores neoliberalism's impact on adult education, internationalization of higher education, and comparative education systems. Notable areas include adult education policy in have-not provinces, transnational academic mobility, and LGBTQ+ equity in educational institutions.
Dr. White serves on multiple academic committees, including roles at the Canadian Association for the Study of Adult Education (CASAE) and the Canadian International Education Society of Canada (CIESC). She has contributed to special journal issues on citizenship education and anti-racism.
Her teaching includes courses such as 'Understanding the Adult Learner' (ED 3024) and 'Adult Education and Community Development' (ED 5157). Her research spans globalization's effects on education systems, comparative policy analysis, and the sociopolitical dimensions of adult learning.
