Melissa Kinnear is an Associate Lecturer at the School of Architecture, Oxford Brookes University, where she has taught since 2006. Her work integrates architecture with international development, focusing on sustainable design, urban resilience, and participatory practices. She holds a BAS, BArch, and an MA in Development and Emergency Practice.

Research Interests: Melissa explores how political systems, economic frameworks, and climate change impact architectural design and urban contexts. She emphasizes social justice, heritage preservation, and sustainable resource use in the built environment. She leads the Biodiversity Working Group and contributes to Inclusive Recovery and Development initiatives.
Professional Roles: Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at Architecture Sans Frontières - UK (ASF-UK), and former General Manager of ASF-UK. She is an ARB and RSA Fellow.
