Dr. Melissa King is an Assistant Professor in Chemistry & Biochemistry at Clarkson University. She holds a PhD from Wesleyan University (2019) and completed postdoctoral research at University of Massachusetts Lowell. Her research develops optically active nanomaterials for environmental applications including wastewater remediation and industrial byproduct recycling.
Research focuses on plasmonic metal nanoparticles, multifunctional photocatalytic materials, and catalyst design. Current projects investigate light-activated systems for enhanced catalytic performance and environmental cleanup.

The King Research Group specializes in synthesizing and characterizing light-responsive nanomaterials with applications in sustainable technology and pollution control.
