Melissa Heatly is an Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Department of Psychiatry. She coordinates School-Based Initiatives with Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness at UR Medicine, delivering mental health services, consultation, and training across the Greater Rochester region.
- Education: PhD in Clinical Psychology (University of Pittsburgh, 2015), MS in Developmental Psychology (University of Pittsburgh, 2011), BA in Government (Cornell University, 2005)
Her research focuses on integrative approaches to child mental health, including comprehensive school mental health systems, mental health training for educators, and policy issues affecting children. She evaluates the effectiveness of school-based interventions in underserved communities and explores associations between adult-child relationships and academic engagement.
Recent publications emphasize developmental psychology, math education, and SES achievement gaps, with a 2017 book chapter on stepped care models for integrated care. Her work bridges clinical practice with educational outcomes.
