Melissa H. Range

Melissa H. Range is an Associate Professor of English at Lawrence University, where she has served since 2014. Her teaching focuses on creative writing (poetry), 19th-century American literature, and contemporary poetry with emphases on women writers and writers of color. She holds a PhD from the University of Missouri, an MTS from Emory University's Candler School of Theology, and an MFA from Old Dominion University, alongside a BA from the University of Tennessee.

Her research explores intersections of literature, history, and social justice. She is the author of two poetry collections: *Scriptorium* (Beacon Press, 2016) and *Horse and Rider* (2010). Currently, she is completing an archive-driven poetry project on the U.S. abolitionist movement. Her work has been supported by fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, Rona Jaffe Foundation, and others.

As a first-generation college student from Upper East Tennessee, her scholarship reflects commitments to underrepresented narratives and community-engaged humanities.
