Melissa Deuter

Melissa Deuter, MD, is a psychiatrist and academic leader at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) School of Medicine, serving as Program Director for the Psychiatry Residency Program under Graduate Medical Education. She completed her medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (2000) and psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio (UTHSCSA), where she was Chief Resident (2003-2004). Dr. Deuter maintains a volunteer role in UTHSCSA's Department of Psychiatry and has expanded mental health education by establishing Sigma Mental Health Urgent Care as a clinical training site for TIGMER psychiatry residents.

She also holds prominent leadership roles in professional societies, including Past President of the Bexar County Psychiatric Society and President of the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians (2025-2026).
