Melissa Brown

Melissa Brown, Ph.D., R.D., serves as the Chair of the Nutrition Department and Associate Professor of Nutrition at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) since 2016. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago, an M.S. from Rush University, a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and is a Registered Dietitian from Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Her research interests focus on nutrition, public health, and health science, with expertise in interdisciplinary approaches to dietary interventions and community health. She oversees programs in nutrition, dietetics, and related fields within the School of Interdisciplinary Health and Science.

Dr. Brown is actively involved in academic leadership, guiding undergraduate and graduate programs such as the Nutrition, M.S. and Dietetic Internship Program. Her academic contributions include curriculum development and fostering student success in health-related disciplines.
