Melissa Armas

Melissa Armas, Ph.D., M.P.H., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Education at Nova Southeastern University's Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine. She joined NSU in 2022 and previously served as a founding faculty member at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, where she taught Medical Molecular Biology.

Dr. Armas' research interests have transitioned from her earlier focus on DNA repair in Colon Cancer to the field of Medical Education, emphasizing active learning, ethics in medical education, and curriculum development. She has taught foundational courses like Genes, Molecules and Cells to first-year medical students and facilitated ethics debriefing sessions for third-year students in Internal Medicine Clerkship.
