Melinda Marchand

Melinda Marchand is a Visiting Assistant Professor in History at Clark University. Her research explores intersections of industrial heritage, religious history, and community narratives through archival and oral history methodologies. She holds a PhD in History from Clark University, an MA in Liberal Arts from Harvard University, and a BA in International Relations from Syracuse University.

Research interests include:

• Industrial heritage and community identity
• Religious influences in American frontier life
• Oral history preservation methodologies
• Natural history institutions and public education
• Material culture analysis

Current projects document the history of Worcester's industrial landmarks, natural history institutions, and women's oral histories. Her work bridges academic history with public engagement through partnerships with Preservation Worcester and local historical societies.

Dr. Marchand contributes to public history initiatives including the Worcester Women's Oral History Project and serves as a docent for Preservation Worcester's architectural heritage programs.
