Melinda Gibson

Melinda Gibson is a Senior Lecturer and Third Year Leader of BA Fine Art: Photography at Camberwell College of Arts. Her practice explores the boundaries of photography through experimental techniques, focusing on how imagery is contextualized and perceived. She has exhibited globally, including at the Royal Academy of Arts (London), FOMU (Belgium), and Dong Gang Museum of Photography (South Korea).

Key honors include the Foam Talent Call and Magenta Foundation Awards. She authored three books, notably the award-winning The Photograph As Contemporary Art, which reimagines photographic theory.

Her research interrogates the medium’s evolving role in contemporary art, blending critical theory with creative practice. She has led workshops and contributed to curatorial projects, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue.
