Paul Haywood serves as Dean of Academic Programmes at University of the Arts London's Central Saint Martins since 2017, overseeing Performance, Art, Product, Ceramics, Industrial Design, Jewellery, and Textiles programmes. Previously Deputy Dean and Professor of Socially Engaged Practice at Middlesex University, he holds a university-wide role as UAL's academic lead for the Shared Campus international cooperation platform involving 13 global arts institutions.
His research centers on community-centered self-organization and experience-based learning, exemplified by the decade-long REBEL (Recognition of Experience Based Education and Learning) toolkit developed with international partners including University of Salford, SOLIDAR Foundation, and EU networks. Current deployments with Camden Council focus on recognizing community volunteer competencies. He remains actively engaged in placemaking initiatives through Ebor Studios and Guns to Goods CIC.
