Dr. Melinda Dean is Senior Lecturer and HDR Coordinator in Biomedical Science at UniSC, specializing in innate immunology, transfusion science, and erythrocyte pathophysiology. Her research focuses on improving blood product safety and understanding transfusion-related immune modulation.
Research investigates mannose-binding lectin's role in inflammation, blood component interactions with immune cells, and transfusion outcomes optimization. Recent work examines climate change impacts on blood supply chains and extracellular vesicle biology.
