Melinda Blazar is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS). She brings over 15 years of experience in physician assistant education, with clinical expertise in family medicine and maternal-child health. Her academic focus lies in clinical education, program administration, assessment, and competency-based learning.
Educational Background:

- Master of Health Science in Physician Assistant Program, Duke University
- Doctor of Education in Health Professions, A.T. Still University
Her research interests include student wellness, mindfulness, competency-based assessment, interprofessional education, and faculty development. She has led national initiatives in PA education, including serving as Chair of the PACRKAT® Exam Development Board (2017–2023) and currently as Assessment Editor-in-Chief for the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) since 2024.
Her recent publications explore mindfulness in PA students, interprofessional preceptor training, and bias reduction in narrative assessments. These works reflect a strong commitment to educational innovation, equity, and wellness in health professions training.

She is also a Certified Centering Facilitator, supporting group prenatal care models.
