Melanie Wagner is a researcher at the Vienna Institute of Demography (VID) within the Austrian Academy of Sciences. She holds a psychology degree from TU Berlin, a social science degree from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and a doctorate from TU Dortmund University (2018). Her research focuses on challenges in later life, including informal caregiving (co-residential and long-distance), grey divorce, socio-economic inequalities among older adults, and social integration. She leads the CONDIV project, analyzing divorce consequences using Austrian register data, with a focus on gender, marriage duration, and comparisons between same-sex and opposite-sex couples. Previously, she contributed to the SHARE survey as part of the Central Coordination team, specializing in operations, questionnaire development, survey methodology, and scientific dissemination.
