Melanie Sugumaran is a Lecturer in Education and Course Director for the Bachelor and Master of Teaching (Secondary) programs at Charles Sturt University’s Faculty of Arts and Education. With experience in both secondary school teaching and tertiary education since 2012, she specializes in Professional Development, Health, and Physical Education (PDHPE) curriculum and pedagogy, as well as workplace learning coordination.
- Education: B.Ed Human Movement and Health (University of Sydney), M.EdSt (University of Newcastle), Grad Cert TESOL (Flinders), Grad Cert Health Promotion (University of Wollongong), Grad Cert Educational Research (UNSW).
Her research focuses on pre-service teacher well-being, mid-career changers transitioning to teaching, and teacher resilience. She leads the Mid-Career Transition to Teaching Program with the NSW Department of Education and is actively engaged in professional networks like the Australian Collaborative Education Network and the Australian Council for Educational Research.
