Melanie Reddig is a Research Fellow at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, affiliated with the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences, Department of Sociology I. Her career spans over two decades at the same institution, progressing from Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin to her current role since 2007.
- Education: Studied Sociology, Modern History, and Media Studies at HHU Düsseldorf (1992-1998)
- Research Focus: Explores Ressentiments, discrimination, social conflict, sociology of religion, radicalization, and extremism. She has conducted comparative analyses of Bourdieu and Lindenberg, and empirical studies on Islamic fundamentalism.
- Projects: Co-leads the BMBF-funded ArenDt project on radical Islam's impact on Jewish life in Germany (2020-2024), and the NRW-funded Spektren des salafistischen Diskurses (2017-2019).
- Publications: Authored and co-authored over 15 publications, including monographs on European citizenship and religion, with a focus on antisemitism, Salafism, and social theory.
