Melanie Pitcher

Melanie Pitcher serves as Senior Lecturer and Faculty Health and Care Engagement Lead at Canterbury Christ Church University, teaching on the Foundation Year in Health and Wellbeing while building strategic partnerships with NHS Trusts, schools, and colleges across Kent.

Her academic credentials include a First-Class Honours degree in Applied Practice in Health and Social Care (2017) and a Master's in Health and Wellbeing (2021), both from Canterbury Christ Church University. With 12 years of prior NHS experience as an Associate Practitioner in School Nursing, she integrates frontline healthcare insights into her educational practice.

Her professional focus centers on developing career pathways into Health and Social Care professions through targeted workshops, the Co-Branding student progression project with local colleges, and simulation suite activities. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she temporarily returned to NHS frontline service as a Band 4 Vaccinator while maintaining her academic responsibilities.

As a mature student success story and advocate for accessible higher education, she designs audience-specific content to promote Health and Social Care careers among diverse age groups, emphasizing practical application through her NHS background and university experience.
