Athene Lane-Martin

Athene Lane-Martin is a Senior Lecturer in Health Promotion and Public Health at Canterbury Christ Church University, affiliated with the AHP and Dental Practice/SIM school. She serves as Course Director for the BSc Mental Health & Wellbeing program, overseeing curriculum development and academic leadership.

Her expertise stems from extensive frontline practice, including roles as a Community Alcohol and Drugs Worker for youth and a Mental Health Promotion Specialist across multiple NHS Trusts in East Kent. Most recently, she led public health workforce training at Kent Community Health Foundation Trust, demonstrating deep integration of practical experience into academic frameworks.

Research interests span Public Health, Health Promotion, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Wellbeing, with a focus on translating real-world interventions into educational contexts. Her work bridges clinical public health practice and academic training, emphasizing community-level health solutions and youth-focused substance abuse prevention.
