معرفی
Melanie McReynolds is an Assistant Professor in the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology department at the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences. Her research focuses on mitochondrial biology, aging, and metabolic pathways, with a particular emphasis on NAD+ metabolism and its implications in diseases like cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome.
Her recent articles (2024–2025) highlight work on
- organ storage systems for transplantation,
- mitochondrial gene function (e.g., Sam50 ablation),
- and evolutionary trade-offs in aging using Drosophila models.
She has received the Dorothy Foehr Huck and J. Lloyd Huck Early Career Chair in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, recognizing her contributions to mitochondrial metabolism research. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to health and well-being.
