Melanie Liechti

Melanie Liechti is a Researcher in the Department of Movement and Sport Sciences at the Faculty of Physical Education and Physical Therapy, Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Her work focuses on chronic low back pain, body composition, and obesity-related musculoskeletal disorders. She is actively involved in systematic reviews and meta-analyses in these areas.

She holds a PhD and has been engaged in several research projects, including an explorative evaluation of body composition changes during the menstrual cycle and a lifestyle intervention study for overweight individuals with chronic low back pain.

Her research spans interdisciplinary fields including pain management, obesity, and health economics. Recent work emphasizes the relationship between pain intensity and body composition, as well as economic evaluations of weight reduction interventions for musculoskeletal conditions. Her methodological expertise includes systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and health economic analyses.

Liechti collaborates within the "Pain in Motion" research group and has presented at international conferences such as the Frauenhormone Kongress 2024 and the Sports, Medicine and Health Summit.
