Dr. Melanie Kelly is a Professor in the Departments of Pharmacology, Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, and Anesthesia, Pain Management & Perioperative Medicine at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. She holds additional roles as Executive Director of the International Cannabinoid Research Society and Chief Scientific Officer at Panag Pharma Inc. Her research focuses on the pharmacology of the endocannabinoid system, particularly its role in ocular and central nervous system diseases.
Her laboratory, the Kelly Lab, is part of the Retina and Optic Nerve Research Laboratory within the Faculty of Medicine. Key research areas include cannabinoid receptor function in ocular inflammation, regulation of intraocular pressure, and translational drug development for neurodegenerative diseases and pain management.
Dr. Kelly has authored over 100 publications and holds several patents in cannabinoid drug development. She collaborates extensively with institutions globally and contributes to education and professional training in medicine and pharmacy.
