Melanie Dicks

Melanie Dicks is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy (UKCOP), specializing in patient-centered care in ambulatory and community settings. She coordinates and teaches in the Community Service-Learning component of the Patient-Centered Care Experience course series and the Wellness & Health Promotion course. Dr. Dicks holds degrees from Kentucky State University (BS, 2000), University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy (PharmD, 2004), and the University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business & Economics (MBA, 2022), with PGY1 residency training at The Ohio State University.

Her research and practice focus on culturally-sensitive care, indigent populations, medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders, community service-learning, and social entrepreneurship. She serves on the UKCOP Academic Performance Committee, advises the Student National Pharmaceutical Association chapter, and precepts the UKCOP/BCHC PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency Program. At Bluegrass Community Health Center (BCHC), she provides interdisciplinary clinical pharmacy services including medication therapy management.

Her publications emphasize pharmacy education innovation, academic integrity, patient communication, and healthcare access for underserved populations. She actively contributes to closing health disparities through culturally-aware practices and social entrepreneurship initiatives.
