Meikang Qiu is a Professor at the Department of Computer & Cyber Sciences, Augusta University, with research focus on machine learning, deep learning, and cybersecurity. He has contributed to distributed computing and computer architecture domains.
- Education: Ph.D. in Computer Science (University of Texas Dallas, 2007), M.S. in Computer Science (University of Texas Dallas, 2003)
Research interests include optimization algorithms for machine learning, adversary attacks in deep neural networks, and efficient computational techniques for cyber-physical systems. His recent work concentrates on communication-efficient stochastic gradient descent methods.
Notable achievements include the 2023 Life-Career Award from the IEEE Bio-inspired Computing Special Technical Community. He has served as Associate Editor for IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, and Journal of Signal Processing Systems, and chaired committees at international conferences.
