Mehta Swati

Dr. Swati Mehta is an Assistant Professor of Liberal Studies at Fresno State University, affiliated with the Kremen School of Education and Human Development. Her work focuses on equitable computer science participation, culturally sustaining pedagogies, and community-engaged STEM education. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology from Michigan State University and an MBA in Operations Management from Devi Ahilya University, India.

Her research emphasizes building K-12 teacher capacity in culturally relevant computing practices, leveraging partnerships with local schools and organizations like the Culturally Situated Design Tools (CSDT) initiative. Dr. Mehta has been a postdoctoral researcher at California State University, Dominguez Hills and is a recipient of the NSF-funded CADRE 2023 Fellowship. She contributes to journals such as ACM Transactions on Computing Education and the Journal of Technology and Teacher Education.

Her scholarly activities include designing justice-centered curricula and fostering collaborations between universities, schools, and communities to address systemic inequities in STEM education.
