Mehruz Kamal serves as Professor and Chair in the Department of Computing Sciences at the State University of New York at Brockport. Her office is located in Brown Building 116, and she can be contacted via phone at (585) 395-2179 or email at mkamal@brockport.edu.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Illinois Institute of Technology
- Master's degree in Computer Science from Illinois Institute of Technology
- PhD from the University of Nebraska at Omaha
Dr. Kamal's research is centered on Information Technology for Development (ITD), investigating how information technology can drive social and economic progress, especially within small and micro-enterprises. She also explores technology adoption challenges, strategies for small business growth, knowledge networking practices, and Collaboration Engineering methodologies. Her work has been published in leading Information Systems journals and presented at major conferences in the field.
She is an active educator, teaching courses such as Introduction to Web Development (CIS 117), Fundamentals of Information Systems (CIS 202), Information Technology Tools (CIS 206), Analysis and Logical Design of Information Systems (CIS 317), Life in the Digital Age (CSC 356), Project Management and Practice (CIS 427), Electronic Commerce Systems (CIS 442), Enterprise Architecture and IS Strategy (CIS 472), and Information Technology for Development (CIS 487). She enjoys mentoring students and contributing to academic service, including serving as mini-track chair at international, national, and regional Information Systems conferences.
