Mehran Abolhasan

Prof. Mehran Abolhasan is a Professor at the School of Electrical and Data Engineering, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He specializes in Communication Engineering with a focus on Wireless Networking, IoT, Cybersecurity, and Software Defined Networking. He leads the Intelligent Networks and Applications Lab (iNAL), advancing networking technologies through prototyping and testing. His research includes over 200 publications in top-tier journals like IEEE Transactions and has secured over $8M in grants from ARC, CRC, and industry/government partnerships. He has mentored over 20 HDR students and held leadership roles such as Deputy Head of School for Research (2016–2022) and Director of Research Programs (2014–2017).

Research interests span IoT security, 5G/6G networks, AI-driven protocols, and digital agriculture. Key contributions include frameworks like PrivySeC for IoT data sharing, and innovations in metamaterial energy harvesting. Awards include inclusion in Stanford’s top 2% scientists and IEEE Senior Membership.

Recent projects focus on high-speed/low-power IoT technologies, SDN architectures for wireless networks, and mission-critical communication reliability.
