Mehmet ŞİRİK

Mehmet Şirik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at Adiyaman University Faculty of Medicine, where he has been a faculty member since 2013. He previously served as Head of Department (2016-2018) and Radiology Clinic Manager at the University's Training and Research Hospital (2016-2017). Currently, he holds the position of Chief Physician at Adiyaman University. His professional journey includes extensive experience at various hospitals including Adana Numune Training and Research Hospital, Kocaeli Gölcük Military Hospital, and Adıyaman State Hospital.

Dr. Şirik's research focuses primarily on radiology with special emphasis on magnetic resonance imaging applications. His work particularly centers on low-field strength (0.2 Tesla) MRI systems for diagnosing carpal tunnel syndrome, meniscal tears, and various musculoskeletal conditions. He has conducted numerous studies comparing low-field MRI with high-field systems to evaluate diagnostic accuracy and clinical utility. His research also extends to abdominal imaging, thyroid imaging, acute appendicitis diagnosis, and various other radiological applications across multiple medical specialties.

His publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly output with numerous articles in international and national journals, particularly focusing on practical clinical applications of radiological techniques. His work has been recognized with awards including a second prize for his research on infrapatellar fat pad and patellar chondromalacia at the National Harran Orthopedics Days symposium.
