Mehmet Bac is a Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Sabancı University, with a distinguished career spanning multiple institutions including Université Laval (1990-1992), Bilkent University (1992-2002), and the University of Chicago (1999-2000). His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Economics from Université Laval (1990), an M.A. in Economics from Boğaziçi University (1986), and a B.Sc. in Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (1983).
Research Interests focus on Microeconomics, Industrial Organization, Law and Economics, with specific attention to corruption mechanisms, criminal networks, labor relations, and incomplete contracts. His work bridges theoretical economics with real-world policy implications, particularly in areas like transnational crime cooperation, harassment dynamics, and institutional transparency.

Professional Leadership includes serving as Dean of FASS (2008-2013) and Associate Editor of the Journal of Economics (2014-present).
