معرفی
Meghana Gadgil, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor in the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Her expertise lies in metabolic and nutritional research focused on preventing cardiometabolic diseases in high-risk populations, particularly South Asian communities and women with postpartum health concerns. She holds roles as Principal Investigator on grants such as NIDDK R03DK132307 (2022-2024) and NIH K23DK119404 (2019-2022).
Education: MD from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Completed internal medicine residency and general internal medicine fellowship at UCSF.
Research focuses on three pillars: 1) Metabolomic processes linking diet to diabetes, 2) postpartum care optimization for GDM patients, and 3) community-level dietary interventions. Current projects include metabolomic profiling for T2D prediction and improving prediabetes resource accessibility through Mount Zion Health Fund support.
Publications emphasize dietary patterns, metabolomics, and population-specific health disparities. Key themes include DASH diet efficacy, plant-based diets' cardiometabolic effects, and microRNA's role in weight regulation.
Grants and funding highlight her leadership in NIH-funded diabetes prevention research. Collaborations with co-authors like Dr. Alka Kanaya and Dr. Elena Flowers advance multi-ethnic cohort studies like MASALA and MESA.
Labs/Teams: Active in UCSF's metabolic research networks, contributing to clinical translation of dietary interventions and digital health tools for personalized care.
