Dr. Meghan M. Newcomer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, with joint appointments in the School of Dental Medicine and College of Arts and Sciences. She teaches anatomy and embryology to medical, dental, and graduate students, serving as course director for Head & Neck anatomy courses.
Her research explores early human evolution through paleontological fieldwork in Ethiopia's Afar region, where she directs the Galili Paleobiology Project. Notable publications include analyses of hominin fossils and functional interpretations of evolutionary adaptations in primates.
Research articles focus on both paleoanthropology and clinical oncology, with recent work examining ovarian cancer diagnostics using ultrasound microbubbles and exosome protein profiling.
