Meghan Downes is a Professor in the Department of Economics, Applied Statistics, and International Business at New Mexico State University's College of Business. Her work focuses on biofuel economics, resource valuation, and agricultural sustainability. She holds a terminal office in the Business Complex building and can be contacted at cmdownes@nmsu.edu.
Her research expertise spans algal biofuel production systems, non-timber forest product economics, and federal land management policies. Recent projects include evaluating biofuel supply chains under the National Alliance for Advanced Biofuels and Bioproducts, analyzing wildfire suppression costs through the FLAME Act, and assessing the economic impacts of New Mexico's energy sectors.
Dr. Downes' publication trends emphasize techno-economic analysis of bioenergy systems, lifecycle assessments for sustainable production pathways, and spatial modeling of natural resource values.
