Meghan DeWald is an Adjunct Professor of Voice at the Mary Pappert School of Music, Duquesne University, where she also serves as the Voice Area Coordinator. She is a renowned soprano with extensive performance experience in opera, concert, and contemporary music.
DeWald holds a Doctor of Music (D.M.) in Vocal Performance and Literature from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, a Master of Music (M.M.) from Indiana University, and a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, graduating magna cum laude.
Her research and performance interests focus on opera roles such as Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, Iris in Semele, and Danae in Die Liebe der Danae, alongside concert works like the Britten War Requiem and Bach’s Magnificat. She is a dedicated advocate for contemporary music, collaborating with composers like Unsuk Chin and Lori Laitman. Her performances frequently blend vocal mastery with dramatic interpretation, as noted in her acclaimed roles in operas and choral works.
Notable awards include Second Place Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Upper Midwest Region) and three-time District Winner (Florida and Wisconsin). She has performed with prestigious ensembles such as the Cleveland Orchestra, Pittsburgh Camerata, and Grammy-winning group The Crossing.
DeWald’s teaching and artistic contributions are complemented by her work as a yoga instructor, emphasizing holistic artist development. She resides in Pittsburgh with her family.
