Meghan Caulfield, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Seton Hall University, where she joined in 2023. Her research focuses on cognitive neuroscience, examining how individual differences in prefrontal cortex function influence cognition and behavior, particularly in contexts like anxiety risk, concussion recovery, and aging. She employs techniques such as fNIRS, eye tracking, and physiological measures. Previously, she held postdoctoral positions at Villanova University (2018–2022) and the Kessler Foundation (2014–2016), and taught at Lafayette College (2016–2018) and Marist College (2022–2023).
Research Interests: Dr. Caulfield investigates cognitive control mechanisms, decision-making, and emotional regulation through a brain-behavior framework. Her work emphasizes translational applications, aiming to uncover neural correlates of cognitive flexibility and how real-world challenges impact these processes. The SHUCAN Lab at Seton Hall explores these topics across diverse populations, including healthy adults, individuals with brain injuries, and older adults.
Teaching: She teaches courses such as Cognitive Neuroscience, Sensation & Perception, and Biopsychology, integrating her research expertise into pedagogy.
