Professor Meggen Gondek is Head of RICHeS Infrastructure Headquarters at AHRC and Professor of Archaeology at the University of Chester's Department of History and Archaeology. She specializes in early medieval archaeology of Northern Britain, particularly Pictish power centers, monumental landscapes, and early Christian contexts.
Her research explores:
- Pictish symbol stones as expressions of cultural memory and genealogy
- Development of power centers and early kingdoms in Scotland
- Landscape archaeology of the Irish Sea littoral
- Materiality and practice theories applied to early medieval art
