Megan Turnbull is an Assistant Professor of Comparative Politics at the University of Georgia, affiliated with the School of Public and International Affairs and the Department of International Affairs. She is a Faculty Affiliate with the Center for International Trade and Security and the African Studies Institute, and has held visiting roles, including a Visiting Scholar at the University of Amsterdam's Elections, Violence, and Parties Project (Fall 2022) and a Research Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center (2021-2022).
- Ph.D. in Political Science, Brown University (2017)
Her research focuses on political order and violence in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly lethal election violence in Nigeria, the organization of violence by politicians and groups, armed groups' relationships with citizens and governments, and democratic backsliding. She explores community mobilization against electoral manipulation and the intersection of political participation with violence.

Her work has been published or is forthcoming in African Affairs, International Security, Political Science Quarterly, Studies in Comparative International Development, and World Development. She also contributes to platforms like Political Violence at a Glance and Africa at LSE.
