Dr. Megan Murph is an Instructor of Musicology and Director of the Budds Center for American Music Studies at the University of Missouri’s School of Music. She holds a PhD from the University of Kentucky and has taught at institutions including the University of South Carolina Upstate and local community colleges.
- Education: PhD in Musicology and Ethnomusicology (University of Kentucky), MM (Louisiana State University), BA (Brevard College)
Her research focuses on Max Neuhaus, ecomusicology, and eco-political listening. She teaches courses on Missouri Music, Global Popular Music Traditions, and Mindfulness for Musicians. As Budds Center Director, she oversees publications, outreach programs, and community engagement related to American and Missouri music.
Megan actively participates in academic organizations such as the Society for American Music (SAM) and the American Musicological Society (AMS). She has presented research at conferences including the Darkwater Women in Music Festival and the Symposium on Yoga Traditions and Sacred Sound Practices.
