Megan Hicks is a Lecturer in Education at the School of Education, Aberystwyth University. She joined the institution in 2012 after completing her 1st class BA (Hons) in Education and Childhood Studies and a PhD in Education. She also holds a PGCTHE (Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Higher Education).

Megan’s research focuses on disability and special educational needs, particularly exploring assessment methods in higher education and transitions for disabled students into HE. Her work includes studies on charitable programs for young adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).
Recent research outputs include a 2011 study on disabled students’ transition experiences and a 2010 evaluation of a charitable program for PMLD individuals. These works emphasize inclusive education practices, qualitative analysis, and equity in higher education.
She also contributes to institutional roles as departmental disability coordinator, employability coordinator, and personal tutor. A collaborative research project (2024–2025) with Welsh Government funding further highlights her engagement in policy and practice.
