Meg Rithmire is the F. Warren McFarlan Associate Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School (HBS), affiliated with the Lau China Institute under King’s Global Institutes and the School of Global Affairs within King’s College London. She specializes in the comparative political economy of development, with a focus on China and Asia. Her research examines land politics, urban governance, state-business relations, and globalization's impacts on China's political economy.
Education: PhD in Government from Harvard University. Current research includes a project comparing capital-state dynamics in China, Malaysia, and Indonesia since the 1980s, and analyzing U.S.-China trade conflicts.
Her work appears in World Politics, China Quarterly, and Politics & Society, with commentary featured in The Atlantic and Washington Post. She leads research on China’s economic development, overseas investment, and urbanization policies through her affiliation with the Lau China Institute.
